Micro needling is an aesthetic technique to stimulate the production of collagen. The second layer of the skin (known as the dermis) is punctured with tiny needles to kick start the production of new elastin and collagen. Collagen is a natural protein produced by fibroblast which makes up the largest part of our skin. It forms a net like structure to hold all the skin cells together. This results in a skin appearance that is smooth and youthful. Unfortunately, as we age our skin produces less collagen.

Both skin tone and texture will be improved by this technique. Aging is inevitable, which is why this is such a valuable treatment as we try to combatdark circles, fine lines, wrinkles, scaring, stretch marks and pigmentation.

What is Microneedling?

Micro needling stimulates collagen production in your skin. The tiny holes are actually therapeutic, since they cause a ‘micro injury’ that prompts skin to stimulate collagen production, plumping the skin, filling in fine lines and contributing to a younger look

How does Microneedling work?

Micro needling uses tiny holes that are made on the surface of the skin. A topical numbing cream on the surface of the skin is applied and a bit of water lubricates the area.

Is the treatment painful?

No, as we use aesthetic numbing cream on the area we work on. You will feel a prickle of the machines vibration moving over the area being treated on. If the client is uncomfortable with needles it can be a problem, but if there any issues, your therapist will help.

How long does a treatment take?

90 min.

How often do I repeat treatment?

This treatment can be repeated every 6 weeks for 90 min but it will depend on your skin type and the condition we are treating, consult with your therapist

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

It will improve the appearance of fine lines, scarring, deep wrinkles, dehydration, acne’ scarring, chickenpox and pigmentation.

What is the cost per treatment?

The cost of the treatment is R750 per session

What will I feel direct after the treatment and a few days after?

Day of the treatment – Skin will appear red and tender, with some small bruising and sensitivity. Clean the skin thoroughly with warm water and apply a night cream.
First day – Redness and tenderness, with some same swelling. The micro bruising will look much better and will still be sensitive. It is important not to wear make-up.
Second day – Skin will feel very dry but appearance will look much better. Your skin redness will calm down and turn to normal.
Third day – Flaking of the skin appears only do a very light exfoliation over the area. You can start to wear make-up again.
After the flaking you can go on with your normal skincare regime.
